Géraldine Bard Weinstoerffer: Switzerland
Géraldine Bard Weinstoerffer was born in 1978 in Geneva, Switzerland. She learnt to paint on wood in her childhood, and colors have always been one of her passions. She has worked as a physician by training and career for the past 15 years in internal medicine, hospital and outpatient services.
Imbued with her work, she loves life stories and transformation processes. She discovered oil painting in 2006 at Rueger-Doess' Malinsel-Löwenzahn workshop in Basel and then decided to complete her medical training at an art-therapy school in 2009. Under the spell of oil painting and the creative process, she began a professional career as a painter in 2019. Posed now in Alsace, she paints and continues as a doctor in telemedicine in Basel (Medgate).
Géraldine takes us into her universe of colorful and luminous images. Her paintings are conducive to travel and change of scenery. It allows us to escape to the treetops with one glance and fly away in an aerial world, alive and inspiring. Her paintings are a mixture of invented images associated with everyday images. She desires to tell what she sees, perceives and feels in life. Images inhabit her, and she paints them.
The shape of the baobab is found in each of her current paintings. Géraldine especially likes the view from below as if the spectator is at the foot of the tree. The baobab can be used as the main subject like a tree. It can support a hut or serve as a simple container to put a portrait, a path or butterflies. This tree allows her all the possible transformations, guaranteeing her access to heaven, space and light, three subjects close to her heart. The tree, link between heaven and earth. Each painting is associated with a poem that sets in motion the image that is told and written.
Géraldine's painting studio is named "L'image écrite", and in the art world, Géraldine is often referred to as "Géraldine of l'image écrite".
