Kate Bauen: Scotland
A Scottish artist based in Switzerland, Kate received a formal art education, and, after many years of studio practice, has developed her distinctive style and techniques. Her work has been featured in exhibitions in Switzerland and across Europe and can be found in private and public collections around the world.
Kate displays her love of her no-nonsense, Glaswegian sense of humour, through her use of colour and stylistic simplicity, which makes her folk art highly recognisable. Spirituality and ancestry play a large part in her highly textured, and often experimental, abstract pieces in pursuit of capturing the intangible in 2 or 3-dimensions.
She is a strong supporter of the Outsider Art Community, and you can find her collaborating in creative social projects and community ventures both in Switzerland and Scotland year-round.
