Sara Sepulveda: Spain
Sara Sepulveda is a Spanish abstract artist based in Basel.
Since receiving her degree in architecture, in Valencia/Rome, Sara has participated in many artistic and interdisciplinary workshops around Europe. She also studied cold wax medium and engraving techniques, participated in land art projects, and wrote award-winning poems before becoming a professional artist.
Her work focuses on the interior topography of our feelings, through the perception of the landscapes and the poetic language of abstraction. Sara expresses a reduction of the reality to an emotion, using the play of light, the beauty of colours, and the sensations of textures. Her landscapes represent the structure, the geometry and the harmony of the places where the viewer builds upon the visual architecture of their feelings.
In her creative process, Sara uses the transparency of layers and the overlay of materials (like plaster or paper) to create textures and depth in her compositions. She also applies metallic colours or pigments to include the light changing reflections in her pieces. Applying and adapting different techniques, mainly mixed media and collage on canvas or paper.
Sara has participated in several international solo and group exhibitions in her artistic career, and her paintings are mostly located in European and American collections.
