Monika Teal: USA
Monika Teal’s career as an artist began with her studies at the University of Minnesota and continued with the Seattle School of Visual Concepts and Western Carolina University. Teal has exhibited across the US as well as in European venues, such as Paris, Venice, and Como. She continues to pursue her career in Switzerland. Monika has received awards and honors on national levels and incorporates her experiences and relationships in a developed and conscious manner.
For Teal, art is a form of social material. Her intent is to address issues of awareness and understanding of our presence in the world. Her art is meant to mediate and guide our actions. She focuses on magic, innocence, and loss of innocence in our lives.
Her art comes from her personal life. It is grounded in her heritage and her past. As with many present-day artists, she is engaging in real-world issues. Teal attempts to breach the gap between life and art by raising an appreciation and awareness of our world.
